Dr. Eva-Clarita Pettai
Someone once called her a ‘migratory bird’. Eva-Clarita Pettai studied politics and history in between Moscow, Berlin and Riga (Latvia). Her academic career led her to Hamburg, Valmiera (Latvia) and Lüneburg, for many years to Estonia and finally to Jena. During this time, she not only learned Latvian and Estonian, but also found a second home in the Baltic region.
In her academic career she focused on historical connections and divisions between and among European societies as well as on the conflicts that emerge from diverging perspectives on the past that shape both politics and societies in the present – not just on the national, but also on the European levels.
Returning to the shores of the Baltic sea, Eva-Clarita Pettai is looking forward to lively discussions at Sankelmark. With her seminars she invites everyone to learn about our European neighbors, their historical experiences and their current perspectives on Germany and Europe.
